For over 26 years, the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute (GDMLI) has been a catalyst for ensuring the constant development and injection of new leadership into our community. It began in 1979 as a study on central Iowa’s leadership status has now become to be an incubator of some of Des Moines most respected leaders. The Institute’s ultimate goals are to motivate participants to a higher level of community awareness and involvement as well as ensure that Central Iowa has a strong flow of leadership well into the future.
Nearly 1,500 participants have experienced the Leadership Institute which yields a huge benefit to not just the individuals, but as mentioned above, our community as well. While participating in one of the Institute’s programs, individuals have the opportunity to meet and engage with experienced business and government leaders. They tour and gain an understanding of some of our communities most important institutions and their role in our community. Lastly, personal leadership enhancement, team-work building and networking with other up and coming leaders give our participant a solid base to spring forward as an active leader in out community. Enhancing the leadership skills of community-oriented individuals in turn yields enormous dividends for Central Iowa for many years to come.
Our sense of community in central Iowa is what helps make living here so wonderful.
