with Polk County Supervisor Matt McCoy
There is no formula or algorithm for becoming our best selves or the ideal leader. It is a lifelong journey of learning and experiencing. Join other Institute member alumni for an intimate discussion with a well-respected community leader, while expanding your understanding of leadership.
Honoring the 10th anniversary of gay marriage in Iowa, this installment of Dialogue 515 will feature the first openly gay Iowa legislator, new Polk County Supervisor, and Institute alumnus, Matt McCoy (CLP '97). Participants will read (in advance) and discuss Matt McCoy's book, McCoy, You're Going Straight to Hell. Note: If you are unable to read the book, you are welcome to join us for the discussion.
Participation in Dialogue 515 is free to 2019 alumni member donors at all levels. Light breakfast and coffee will be provided.
About the Book
Through heartfelt e-mails to openly gay Iowa State Senator Matt McCoy, readers will understand the impact of the struggle for marriage equality. These stories will empower others to face, accept, and celebrate their sexuality and relationships. Marriage equality is the new civil right. Passion is strong on both sides of the issue. The battle for equality is more than a powerful political weapon or crusade of religious zealots. It is about love, commitment, and civil rights. These e-mails are artifacts of a critical movement.
